Fitness apps let users pick and choose workouts
ClassPass and Gympass are among companies offering a monthly package of credits that can be redeemed at thousands of participating gyms, rather than being locked into memberships.
Ellen Ransom wanted variety without commitment.
She belonged to several yoga studios but was looking for something new to add to her workout routines without the cost of another gym membership.
Earlier this year, the North Side resident discovered ClassPass, a New York City-based company that allows users to buy a monthly number of credits that they can use at thousands of participating fitness facilities worldwide.
“I really like it,” said Ransom, 25. “This was a good way to try out different places without having to commit. Now I can go to yoga or do spinning or boxing.”
With Class Pass, members can buy a monthly number of credits that they can use at fitness facilities worldwide, including the Arena District Athletic Club.
