Halloween Candy to Avoid

Halloween Candy to Avoidhalloween2

Halloween is one of the hardest holidays to avoid candy.  The fun sized temptations are out in full force.  If you live where kids Trick-or-Treat it’s likely you will have bags of candy in your home.  You buy it in bulk because nobody wants to be the house that runs out and disappoints the kids. It’s pretty rare you buy the exact amount needed though which leads to leftover candy.  Then those extra treats are just sitting out asking to be eaten, waiting to wreck all the hard work you put in at the gym this week.  So how do you avoid the call of the candy?  Get rid of it! This doesn’t mean take it to work and try to tempt all your co-workers.  Here are four ideas to help you dispose of the extra temptation.

I tend to start handing out extra pieces during the last 30 minutes of trick-or-treat so I end up with as few leftovers as possible.

You can participate in the Halloween Candy Buyback program where dentists purchase candy back from kids for prizes. Follow this link for a list of participating offices around Columbus: http://www.halloweencandybuyback.com/search-results.html

Or you can directly mail your leftover candy to OperationGratitude to be used in care packages to U.S. military troops.

If all else fails…go ahead, throw it away.  The kids don’t have to know.
