I have been active all my life with sports and outdoor activities and I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the health/fitness field but I just fell into personal training after college. I got my bachelors degree from Miami University with a focus in Exercise Science and Nutrition in 2005. I was debating whether or not to go back to school right away to get my masters degree or find a job. So I took a job as a personal trainer in 2005 here in Columbus and haven’t looked back since. Through the years I have worked with people from every walk of life in nearly every situation possible, from working with young athletes on up to the professional ranks. I went back to school and got my masters in sports performance enhancement and injury prevention in 2011 just before coming to work here at the Arena District Athletic Club in January 2012.
Every client success story is memorable but a few stand out above the rest. I have helped one client lose 90lbs and that is the most that I have achieved with someone thus far. It is great to
work with a current NHL forward as well. Professional athletes have another level to which they dedicate themselves to fitness, and it is fun to work with these individuals because it really challenges me to be on top of my game.
My favorite sports team is the Columbus Blue Jackets, but I am also a big Buckeyes and Bengals fan.My hobbies: working out, cooking, playing basketball, white water rafting, hiking in Colorado, snow and water skiing, as well as working on and racing my cars (1972 Chevy Nova and a 1970 Chevy C10), going out to dinner and drinks with my wife, Lindsey, and playing with our 2 dogs Carley and Roxy.
I would describe the music I listen to while I workout as aggressive… A lot of rock and hip hop, but almost anything with a catchy beat will do. A few songs on my Ipod would surprise you.
